The Africa Journal of Sustainable Development (AJSD) is committed to publishing high-quality, original research that contributes to sustainable development scholarship and practice. Authors, reviewers, editors, and readers are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity throughout the publication process.
The journal's editorial decisions are made independently and solely based on scholarly merit, originality, relevance to the journal's scope, methodological rigor, and contribution to knowledge.
Manuscripts submitted to AJSD must be original and must not contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, or substantial overlap with previously published work. All sources must be properly acknowledged.
Authors, reviewers, and editors should disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the objectivity of the publication process.
Research involving human participants, animals, or other sensitive subjects should comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional or national regulations. Where required, authors should state that ethical approval was obtained from the appropriate ethics review board or committee and that informed consent was obtained from participants.
AJSD encourages authors to make research data, code, and other supporting materials available where appropriate to promote transparency and reproducibility. Where data cannot be shared, authors should provide a brief explanation of any legal, ethical, or confidentiality restrictions.
Authors may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support language editing, data analysis, or other aspects of manuscript preparation where appropriate. Any material use of AI tools should be disclosed within the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scientific content of their work. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
Upon acceptance, authors are required to complete and sign the journal's copyright agreement before publication.

Where significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, AJSD may publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions where appropriate to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Where publication malpractice is suspected, the Editorial Board will investigate the matter fairly and confidentially. Confirmed cases may result in rejection of the manuscript, publication of a correction or retraction, notification of the authors' institution or funding agency, where appropriate, and other actions necessary to protect the integrity of the journal.
